You will need to select a machine with a math co-processor. They are built-in on 68040 CPUs. For 68030 CPUs, you need the 68882 chip. Some Mac model came with one standard. Some, which are marked with "opt 68882" in the table, came with a available socket for it (I beleive). Those marked with "none", can sometime get a FPU via a PDS extension card (like I did with my LCII). The previous sentence means it is unlikly OpenBSD can run on Powerbooks without built-in FPU because they lack extension cababilities. You might as well select a mac with a 32bit data bus. A half-width bus will reduce the speed of an already slow computer. Beside the DATA BUS column in this chart, a good sign of a 32 bit bus is when the machine use 72pin SIMM or use 30pin SIMM in banks of 2. 68030 CPUs have bearly any cache on them. Cache is not that important with them because they run at the same speed as the system bus. Which is very slow. 68040 CPUs run at twice the system bus speed. Apple always marketed the system bus speed of those system. In any case, it is slow. The Powerbooks use small sized and capacity SCSI drives and don't have integrated network port. A basic installation of OpenBSD is unlikly to fit on them. A solution is to network them throught a SLIP (serial link) connection and mount the data via NFS. Do I need to say that's gonna be painfully slow. If you have the choice, get a Quadra 650, 700 or 800 as they have every thing needed built-in to run a networked OpenBSD.
